Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA)


Job Description

As a Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) will work as part of a team to provide physical therapy services under the direction and supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist. Provides supervision and or hands-on physical therapy treatments in accordance with patient care plans. Implements selected components of patient/client interventions (treatment), obtain data related to the interventions provided, and make modifications in selected interventions either to progress the patient/client as directed by the physical therapist or to ensure patient/client safety and comfort. Consistently communicates with supervising PT in regard to scheduled patients to ensure identification of need for assessment and reassessment of patients, modification of treatment plans and other interventions requiring therapist direction. Participates in education of patients, care givers, coworkers and self. Performs other duties associated with patient care, within the scope of practice.

Required knowledge, skills and abilities:

* Interpersonal and listening skills and the ability to communicate instructions to patients and caregivers in an understandable manner.

* Ability to work in a fast paced environment.

* Considerable experience working in a hands-on clinical functional setting.

* Knowledge of ADA and occupational medicine.

* Good experience in outpatient orthopedics, work related injuries, ergonomic observation and techniques, back education, and bio-mechanics with lifting.

Qualified candidates must be a graduate from a CAPTE - accredited PTA Program and must be licensed in State of Illinois. In addition, 3+ years previous experience in an outpatient clinical setting is required._


Demonstrated physical ability to
-Lift up to 50 pounds,
-Lift and transfer patients,
-Stand for extended periods of time
-Have normal visual acuity and
-Have fine motor skills
