Job description
Spectra Tech, Inc. Corporate Office is hiring for a Quality Assurance Manager (Corporate) in Oak Ridge, TN.
Position Summary
The Quality Assurance Manager leads enterprise-wide QA initiatives across nuclear operations, engineering services, technical services, and used fuel management. This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with NRC, Federal, national and international standards (e.g., NQA-1, ISO 9001:2015), mentoring a QA/QC team, leading audits, and driving a culture of continuous improvement.
The QA Manager collaborates closely with project managers, engineering leads, EH&S teams, and regulatory bodies to embed quality throughout the project lifecyclefrom design through execution.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership
Manage and mentor QA/QC personnel across multiple sites and business functions.
Promote knowledge sharing and best practices across projects and departments.
Quality Program Development
Develop, implement, and continuously improve QA programs supporting nuclear facility operations, logistics, and engineering.
Maintain compliance with regulatory requirements including NQA-1, 10 CFR 50/71, and ISO 9001:2015.
Audit & Compliance
Conduct and oversee internal QA audits, supplier evaluations, and performance-based audits.
Manage CAPA (Corrective and Preventive Action) programs.
Serve as an interface for NRC, Federal, and customer audits.
Process Improvement
Lead root cause investigations of non-conformances and incidents.
Support cross-functional teams in implementing corrective actions.
Recommend and lead continuous improvement initiatives.
Data & Reporting
Develop quality metrics, dashboards, and reports to monitor organizational performance and drive decision-making.
Training & Communication
Design and deliver training on quality policies, procedures, and tools.
Implement corporate quality events and communication strategies.
Project Support
Assist in project planning, participate in readiness reviews, licensing applications, and technical documentation reviews.
Support proposal efforts and summarize the corporate QA approach.
Documentation & Systems
Write, revise, and maintain QA documentation including plans, policies, procedures, test protocols, and inspection records.
Administer job packs and documentation control in production settings.
Required Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Engineering, Quality Management, Nuclear Technology, or related field (Masters preferred).
Minimum 6 years of experience in quality assurance, preferably in the nuclear, aerospace, or similarly regulated industry.
Minimum 2 years in a leadership or team management role.
Experience in NRC/DOE environments and nuclear facility operations or construction.
Proficiency with NQA-1, 10 CFR 50/71, and ISO 9001:2015 standards.
Skilled in conducting audits, vendor surveillance, and CAPA management.
Strong communication and organizational skills; ability to work with all levels of staff and external stakeholders.
Computer proficiency in QA software tools and Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Qualifications & Certification
NQA-1 Lead Auditor
ISO 9001:2015 Lead Auditor Certification
Experience performing work within the Department of Energy complex
ASQ CQE, CQA, CQM, or similar quality certification
Experience with ASME Section VIII U Stamp, Commercial Grade Dedication, and counterfeit part detection
Physical & Travel Requirements
Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
Capable of walking daily on uneven surfaces and in varying weather.
Ability to climb ladders/scaffolds and navigate industrial environments.
Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed
