Job description
We are searching for Construction Inspector/Observer - IV for an 8 months contract assignment.

This position is to inspect all aspects in the construction of a substation (i.e. ground grid, control wiring, steel, bus and all electrical equipment installations) Responsible for ensuring contract compliance is provided for contractors performing construction on the Owner's electric transmission system. The scope of work will vary from modifications on existing substations, construction of new substations, and generation & customer facilities.


Job Duties & Responsibilities:
*Able to inspect all aspects in the construction of a substation (i.e. ground grid, control wiring, steel, bus and all electrical equipment installations)
*Monitor electrical construction installations are completed in accordance with project documents and specifications.
*Monitor and prepare complete and accurate daily inspection reports with photographs
*Review discrepancies with appropriate parties.
*Observe that basic safety measures are in place.
*Validate quantities and unitized work tasks.
*Validate any contractor billable metrics (i.e., labor classifications & hours and equipment type & hours)
*Travel is required to assigned location: KS and NM
*Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications / Education / Experience:*A minimum of 5 - 7 years' practical construction experience working around energized, high-voltage power lines and equipment in electrical substations.
*Experience in the Electrical Utility Industry a plus Key Competencies
*The ability to read plans and specifications: schematic diagrams, electrical diagram, metering diagrams, and equipment operation and maintenance manuals.
*A basic understanding of construction principles and techniques
*Ability to exhibit a professional demeanor to customers and other employees
*Verbal and written communication and presentation skills

Preferred Qualification: Journeyman substation
