Job description

The Senior Quality Control Technician provides independent inspection, testing, examination, and evaluation services in support of the nuclear fleet. The position is responsible for verifying compliance with applicable codes, standards, specifications, procedures, and regulatory requirements associated with plant operations, maintenance, modifications, and procurement activities.

The Senior Quality Control Technician exercises independent judgment in the acceptance of work activities, materials, components, and services, and supports the identification, documentation, and resolution of quality concerns. This position may also develop and implement nondestructive examination (NDE) techniques and procedures, as applicable.

Key Roles & Responsibilities
•        Perform inspections of mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and controls (I&C), civil, welding, and receipt inspection activities.
•        Directly evaluate work performed against Nuclear Fleet, regulatory, code, and industry standards to determine compliance.
•        Observe and monitor work activities to verify adherence to approved procedures, specifications, and quality requirements.
•        Perform inspections, examinations, and testing activities associated with maintenance, construction, modification, and procurement activities.
•        Perform and evaluate test results for dedication and acceptance of materials, components, and services.
•        Conduct document reviews for compliance with specifications, codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
•        Develop inspection plans and support continuous improvement initiatives.
•        Utilize precision measuring equipment including calipers, micrometers, depth gauges, and other inspection tools.
•        Interpret drawings, blueprints, specifications, procedures, and technical documents.
•        Identify, document, and communicate quality concerns that may impact nuclear safety, regulatory compliance, or equipment reliability.
•        Capable of obtaining and maintaining certification in applicable NDE methods (e.g., MT, PT, VT, UT, RT, ET).

Education, Experience & Skill Requirements
•        High school diploma or GED required.
•        Associate degree in a technical discipline, military nuclear training, or equivalent technical education preferred.
•        Minimum five (5) years of experience performing inspection, examination, testing, quality assurance, quality control, maintenance, engineering, construction, manufacturing, military nuclear, or other highly regulated industrial activities.
•        Understanding of mechanical, electrical, and I&C systems and work activities.
•        Knowledge of materials, material properties, degradation mechanisms, and failure modes.
•        Working knowledge of ASME Codes Section II, III, V, IX, and XI preferred.
•        Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, engineering documents, specifications, and quality records.
•        Knowledge of nuclear, industrial, manufacturing, petrochemical, power generation, or similarly regulated industry standards.
•        Previous certification or experience in NDE methods, Certified Welding Inspector (CWI), NACE, or other applicable certifications is desirable.
•        Strong written and verbal communication skills.
•        Demonstrated ability to work independently with limited supervision.

Additional Requirements
•        Occasional travel to other fleet locations, vendor facilities, and training locations may be required.
•        Ability to work overtime, weekends, holidays, and backshift assignments as plant schedules dictate.
•        Ability to perform field inspections in industrial environments, including climbing, confined space entry, elevated work locations, and the use of respiratory protection when required.
