Written by NukeWorker from public records: facts that do not change. Operator, status and capacity come from the live data elsewhere on this page. Sources: Wikipedia: Bohunice Nuclear Power Plant; IAEA PRIS: Slovakia.

The Bohunice nuclear power plant is at Jaslovské Bohunice in the Trnava region of western Slovakia. The site had an early unit, A1, and four VVER-440 pressurized water reactors in two pairs, V1 and V2.

A1 was connected to the grid on December 25, 1972. A coolant leak during refuelling in 1976 killed two workers, and an accident in February 1977 was rated level 4 on the International Nuclear Event Scale. A1 was shut down on February 22, 1977. The V1 units were connected on December 17, 1978, and March 26, 1980, and closed on December 31, 2006, and December 31, 2008, as required for Slovakia's 2004 accession to the European Union. The V2 units were connected on August 20, 1984, and August 9, 1985.
