Construction began on 10 August 1982. The plant had a single Siemens pressurized water reactor of the Konvoi design. The reactor first reached criticality on 14 April 1988 and was connected to the grid on 19 April 1988. It was permanently shut down on 15 April 2023, at the end of the German nuclear phase-out.
