All three units were boiling water reactors. Construction of Unit A began on 12 December 1962, and it was connected to the grid on 1 December 1966. On 13 January 1977 a serious accident destroyed Unit A beyond repair, and it was never restarted. Construction of Units B and C began in July 1976. Unit B was connected to the grid on 16 March 1984 and Unit C on 2 November 1984. Unit B was permanently shut down on 31 December 2017 and Unit C on 31 December 2021.
