Breaker-to-Breaker Runs
11 runs
?
Breaker-to-breaker runs measure continuous operation between refueling outages using a cycle-adjusted threshold (90% of cycle length minus RFO duration). An active streak means the unit has been running continuously since the last refueling with no trips to 0% power.
Point Beach 2 has logged 11 breaker-to-breaker runs, continuous stretches from one refueling to the next with no trip to zero power. Its longest ran 557 days, and its runs average 510 days.

Wisconsin Electric Power Company built the plant, with a groundbreaking on November 28, 1966. It has two Westinghouse two-loop pressurized water reactors. Construction of Unit 1 began in July 1967 and Unit 2 in July 1968. Unit 1 reached initial criticality on November 2, 1970, and entered commercial operation on December 21, 1970. Unit 2 followed in 1972, with commercial operation dated October 1, 1972. Steam generator degradation held Unit 1 to reduced power from December 1979 until replacement steam generators were installed in October 1983. Unit 2's steam generators were replaced in 1996 and 1997.
