Breaker-to-Breaker Runs
4 runs
?
Breaker-to-breaker runs measure continuous operation between refueling outages using a cycle-adjusted threshold (90% of cycle length minus RFO duration). An active streak means the unit has been running continuously since the last refueling with no trips to 0% power.
Quad Cities 2 has logged 4 breaker-to-breaker runs, continuous stretches from one refueling to the next with no trip to zero power. Its longest ran 722 days, and its runs average 696 days.

It has two General Electric boiling water reactors (BWR-3 design with Mark 1 containment). Construction began on February 15, 1967. Unit 1 came on line in December 1972 and entered commercial operation on February 18, 1973, followed by Unit 2 on March 10, 1973. In 2002, Unit 2 was held out of service from March 5 to July 21 after steam line vibration problems during an extended power uprate test, and a hole found in the steam dryer was repaired. A drain-down event on the Unit 1 reactor vessel occurred on March 28, 2023.
